What people say about the home

Feedback from the children who live here, and from the professionals who work alongside them.

“That I can live with my siblings and my younger siblings can visit.”

A child living at the home, asked what they like most

“I feel safe living at the home with my siblings.”

A child living at the home

“With the help of their fantastic staff, the child has completed a very high percentage of work, which has helped them progress this academic year enormously.”

An education provider

“It has been really positive to see the children grow and develop under your care and that of your staff team. You have remained focused on keeping them safe, while also promoting positive family time. You have also played a key role in supporting their independent living skills and emotional well-being. You have encouraged them all to engage in education and positive activities, and have ensured that they have had a positive experience of residential care. You have supported them through a positive transition and have worked effectively as part of the professional team around the children.”

What the home does well

A social worker described children receiving difficult news and being helped with their feelings in a meaningful way, noting that previously there would have been a lot of incidents. Feedback from the team and from visiting professionals consistently highlights:

• Warm, consistent, trusting relationships between staff and children

• Children who are safe, settled, and increasingly open about past experiences

• Strong support for family contact and family time, handled sensitively and with cultural awareness

• Noticeably improved engagement with education, including for children who had been out of school for some time

• Individual progress recognised, from regular sporting commitments to spending more time with others rather than alone

• Children's wishes and feelings listened to and clearly recorded

• Healthy routines encouraged — outings, sleep, and prompt medical appointments
